End Gun Violence! Tell Congress to Pass the Protecting Our Kids Act.

Members of Congress

Protect kids. Stop gun violence.

There have been more than 200 mass shootings in the United States this year and firearms are now the leading cause of death in children nationwide. For those trying to do the math, that means more than one mass shooting every day of the year has spread violence everywhere imaginable—schools, homes, hospitals, grocery stores, parties, concerts, and even places of worship.

Congress is finally taking serious steps to address this problem by considering the recently introduced “Protecting Our Kids Act” (H.R. 7910). This legislation will make it harder for teenagers to gain access to semi-automatic rifles, establish requirements for the storage of guns at home where so many children are accessing guns, and improve background checks among other things to keep our families safe.

Parents around the country of all political persuasions are scared to know that firearms are now the leading cause of death in children. It’s simply unacceptable to put politics and gun lobbying money ahead of our children’s safety.

A new package of bills called the Protecting Our Kids Act (H.R. 7910) will take significant steps to protect children and our communities from the gun violence causing trauma and death everyday.

Thoughts and prayers may be comforting to some, but we need Congress to do its job and pass real legislation to protect our children immediately.
