Tell Indiana Attorney General: Leave Abortion Providers Alone

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita

Child with doctor

A ten-year-old child should never have to deal with a pregnancy. Unfortunately, that’s what happened to a child in Ohio who was sexually assaulted. To make it worse, abortion is illegal in Ohio, even in cases of child sexual assault. Her family did the right thing by transporting her to nearby Indiana where she had an abortion - which saved her life.

But now the Indiana Attorney General is going after the abortion provider with a bogus investigation into her practice, even though she has filed all the appropriate paperwork with the state for providing an abortion to a minor who had parental permission. This investigation put the abortion provider at risk for retaliation and violence - just for doing the right thing for this child. Join us in telling the Attorney General to back off!

The sexual assault of a ten-year-old child is disgusting and horrific. No child should have to go through what this child has gone through.

Your office’s effort to investigate the abortion provider who provided the life-saving abortion on this child is dangerous. Dr. Caitlin Bernard was simply doing her job providing this abortion and has filed all the necessary paperwork. By bringing additional public attention to her, you are inviting violence against her and her practice. Abortion is legal throughout the state of Indiana, and this public tragedy does not change that.

Please, drop the investigation against Dr. Bernard. Journalists have already uncovered all the necessary documents filed by the doctor. There is nothing more to investigate.
